Testicles, Balls, Huevos: What do they do?

The testicles, also known as testes, are male reproductive glands located in the scrotum, which is a sac of skin that hangs below the penis. The primary function of the testicles is to produce and store sperm, the male reproductive cells that are necessary for fertilization. The testicles also produce testosterone, the main male sex hormone, which is responsible for the development of male secondary sexual characteristics, such as increased muscle mass, body hair growth, and deepening of the voice.

Sperm production occurs within the seminiferous tubules of the testicles, where specialized cells called spermatogonia undergo a process of cell division and differentiation, ultimately forming mature sperm cells. Once produced, the sperm are transported to the epididymis, a coiled tube attached to the back of each testicle, where they are stored and matured until ejaculation.

Overall, the testicles play a critical role in male reproduction and the maintenance of male physical characteristics.
